In the powerful new episode titled “The movement to mobilise Muslim guardians of the Earth”, Earthrise explores the vital role faith can play in confronting the environmental crisis, through the lens of Al-Mizan, a groundbreaking Islamic environmental charter coordinated by UNEP.
From its high-profile launch at the United Nations Environment Assembly in Kenya to grassroots initiatives in the UK and water-stressed communities in Jordan, the episode follows this transformative journey across continents. Presenter Amanda Burrell meets ecotheologians, farmers, faith leaders, and youth activists, all inspired by the Islamic principles of stewardship, justice, and balance (mizan) to take action for our planet.
As climate and biodiversity crises deepen, Al-Mizan offers a hopeful, values-driven path toward restoring harmony between humanity and nature.
